The 6th ODI Young Scholars Diaspora Conference (YSDC) on “Impact of COVID-19 on Diverse Indian Diasporas in Africa: Role, Challenges, Expectations, and Emerging Research Agenda” is being jointly organized by Centre for African Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Centre for Diaspora Studies, Central University of Gujarat (CUG) in collaboration with Organisation for Diaspora Initiatives (ODI India).
The conference will be held online on 27th June 2020 from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM on the WebEx platform at African Studies, JNU.
Keeping in mind the role, challenges, expectations and emerging research agenda for the Indian Diaspora in Africa, the proposed Conference would broadly deliberate on the following sub-themes under four different sessions on 27th of June 2020 from 10 AM onwards:
- African countries with Indian Diaspora under COVID-19: Diverse experiences of Anglophone, Francophone, Lusophone, and Arabic Africa.
- Impact of COVID-19 on Indian Diaspora in Africa: Their role, challenges, and way forward.
- Indian Diaspora in Africa during COVID-19: Their expectations and expectations from the-local and beyond.
- Emerging research agendas for Indian Diaspora in Africa in the post-COVID situation- panel discussion.
Any senior Ph.D. researcher, post-doc, or Asstt Professor having Ph.D. work related to Indian Diaspora may contact us for making presentations on any of the sub-themes. All presenters will be issued a presentation certificate and similarly, all participants will be issued participation certificates.
