Amrita Center for Wireless Networks & Applications, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and its partners will host a Workshop on Technology Enabler for Smart Cities (TESC-2019) co-located with the BuildSys 2019: 6th ACM International Conference on Systems for Energy-Efficient Buildings, Cities, and Transportation scheduled to be held from November 13 – 14, 2019 at Columbia University, New York. Workshop Technology Enabler Smart Cities Amrita Vidyapeetham
More than 26 billion devices are expected to be connected to the Internet by 2020 which emphasize the need of Internet of Things (IoT). As exciting as that sounds, the volume of connected devices necessitate an improved system capacity and spectrum efficiency, an improved power consumption of user devices and an extended lifetime for the connected devices.
Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) meticulously absorb all such features with all the advantages like wide area ubiquitous coverage, fast upgrade of existing network, low-power consumption guaranteeing 10 year battery life, high coupling, low terminal cost, plug and play, high reliability and high network security.
The goal of the workshop, Technology Enabler for Smart Cities (TESC-2019), is to provide a forum where diverse group of researchers can share the latest research insights, present key and novel results on NB-IoT technology facilitators, including novel system architecture, and wireless techniques, explore different smart city applications, and identify new challenges and opportunities.

  1. NB-IoT protocols and architectures for smart city applications
  2. Data processing, analysis and management for smart cities
  3. Real world NB-IoT experiments and deployments
  4. Smart Energy – Smart metering (electricity, gas and water)- Decentralised energy ecosystem
  5. Smart water data analytics for NB-IoT networks
  6. M-health network for Connecting personal appliances and measuring health parameters
  7. Smart University and Smart Education
  8. Smart mobiquitous electric cars in the Smart City
  9. E-waste management – Smart dustbin facility and management services
  10. Smart city theory, modeling, and simulation
  11. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Smart City
  12. Tracking of persons, animals or objects with real time NB-IoT networks
