About the Workshop
Modern Methods of Organic chemistry clearly covers the concepts, procedures and uses of chemical synthesis in creating simple to complex organic molecules. It lies in the design and development of novel drug molecules, reagents, catalysts etc which are benign to the environment. In this regard the Green and sustainable chemistry is a rapidly developing interdisciplinary field involving chemistry, biology, medicine, and materials science and engineering which attracts the scientists to conduct non-hazardous chemical reactions with high atom economy.
The selectivity in Green organic reactions is important which can avoid the formation undesired by-products. To achieve these, chemists should have thorough knowledge about the stereochemistry, stereoselectivity and characterization techniques. This Faculty Development Workshop is aimed to impart basic principles and advanced knowledge to faculty and researchers and to open new vistas for them in teaching.
Further, this workshop provides a platform for interaction and exchange of ideas on current trends in the fields of Organic chemistry with Green protocols and Technology and offers hands on experience.
- Basic principles of stereochemistry using molecular models and its applications in stereoselective synthesis
- Basic principles of Green Chemistry, designing of simple and cost-effective experiments to understand impact of Green Chemistry & Sustainable chemistry.
- Hands on experiences on Green Synthetic methods and analysis by using IR, UV, 1H NMR and Mass spectral data.
Who can attend?
Faculty members in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Pharmacy, Biotechnology working in the Institutions of higher education. Research Scholars, who have an aptitude to work in the areas of Chemistry and allied technology and desire to take up teaching profession as their career.
