The workshop is aimed at addressing the role of ethics in Higher Education Institutions and the importance of reaffirming institutional values and responsible leadership. The workshop includes, among others, how to deal with ethical issues in the day-to-day work of the institute and how to communicate to the entire staff and secure their commitment to more ethical behaviours.

At the institutional level, the workshop provides guidance on management tools and mechanisms to be adopted so as to embed values more firmly in institutional processes and procedures including teaching courses and research work. The workshop is a means to extend further debates about the contemporary state of pedagogy in ethics in institutes that are primarily established for imparting technical education to students who are also conditioned to aspire for technical and managerial excellence.

In the contemporary world professionalism embeds three equally important parts: knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Usually it is recognised that knowledge and skills are important for good performance at the workplace. Less attention has been paid to attitudes, in other words to principles, values, and ethics
