About the workshop

The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt of India has been pleased to set up Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF) in the Gauhati University, Guwahati Assam in February; 2008. The centre is a member of Northeastern Bioinformatics network (NEBInet) and Biotechnology Information System Network (BTISnet).

The Centre’s facilities include dedicated lease line Internet connectivity from BSNL, DELL servers with DELL PCs with LINUX and Microsoft Windows operating system, and major Bioinformatics tools. The object of the training is to create awareness towards application of Bioinformatics tools among Research scholars and college teachers in biological sciences.

Course content

Bioinformatics overview, Biological Databases & information retrieval, Concepts of Sequence Alignment, Visualization Softwares, PCR Primer Designing, Sequence Submission Tools and UG & CBCS Bioinformatics syllabus for Zoology and Botany.

Registration
  • Number of participants will be restricted to 25.
  • Rs. 1500/- (includes course work material and lunch; may be paid in cash)
