Workshop on Health, Medical Ethics and Intellectual Property Rights @ NUALS [March 14-15, Kochi]: Register by March 4: Expired

A three-day national workshop on Health, Medical Ethics and Intellectual Property Rights, is jointly organized by the Centre for Health Law and Policy and the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights, NUALS.

The arena of health has undergone phenomenal changes over the last decades, raising numerous social, legal, ethical and normative questions. While the right to health has evolved as a right included within the folds of the diverse rights, its realization has been subjected to various obstacles and hindrances due to the very nature of the right itself.

Along with the traditional issues relating to access, affordability and quality of healthcare, novel issues relating to the evolution of new technologies in therapeutic and diagnostic treatments, interactions between the various stakeholders of health as a service, rights and duties of the personnel and beneficiaries of the system along with the intellectual property rights involved therein raise pertinent questions. Such ambiguities are of crucial importance to students of law and medicine, researchers, practitioners, doctors, academicians as well as other stakeholders.

The Programme is intended to provide an involved, interactive, intensive platform that would enable the participants to acquire real and effective understanding on some of the important issues in health, medical ethics and related intellectual property rights aspects of the same.

The programme shall have interactive sessions handled by experts in the respective fields. A panel discussion on some of the current issues at the juncture of health and medical ethics is also proposed as a part of the event.

Medical professionals, Academicians, Research Scholars and Students.
