About the Workshop

The Three Day Workshop on Deep Learning Approaches on Medical Imaging for Clinical Diagnosis and Health Care Applications is organised by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Tamil Nadu from Feb 5-7, 2020.

Machine learning has witnessed a tremendous amount of attention over the last few years. The current boom started around 2009 when so-called deep artificial Neural networks began outperforming other established models on a number of important benchmarks. Deep neural networks are now the state-of-the-art machine learning models across a variety of areas from image analysis to natural language processing and widely deployed in academia and industry.

These developments have a huge potential for medical imaging technology, medical data analysis, medical diagnostics and healthcare in general. Healthcare sector is totally different from other industry. It is on high priority sector and people expect the highest level of care and services regardless of cost. The key insights of the workshop include the basics of 1D Bio-signal and 2D Biomedical Imaging modalities like CT, MRI, fMRI, PET and SPECT.

The added feature of this is providing highlights on the application of Machine learning and Deep learning for medical images. This will pave the way for the engineers to work with real-time data and get greater insights to aid clinicians in making decisions.
