The Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indore is organizing a Workshop on Local Waste Utilisation in Rural Construction Activities on October 16, 2021.
This workshop aims to highlight the needs and advantages of the utilization of wastes for sustainable construction in rural areas. The workshop will primarily cover locally available wastes, their assessment, and potential utilization for construction in rural areas.
Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IIT Indore or IITI), located in Madhya Pradesh, is one of the Institutes of Technology established by the Government of India in 2009. It is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 which declares eight new IITs as well as the conversion of Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University to IIT.
The workshop will cover online sessions on:
- Local wastes in Rural India
- Use of Local Wastes in Rural Buildings
- Use of Local Wastes in Rural Roads
- Recycling of Local Wastes in Building Products

The workshop explores the use of local waste in rural construction activities, any person who is interested in rural development or sustainable construction or waste management or exploring new economic opportunities can attend this workshop. This includes students, academicians, researchers, industry professionals, budding entrepreneurs, local administrators, and rural stakeholders.
