About the Organiser
Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), an Institute of National Importance, was formerly known as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT). Institute is named after the great scholar and first Education Minister of Govt. of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The Govt. of India and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh jointly sponsored the Institute in 1960 to attract bright young engineering students across the country.
About the Workshop
The National Workshop on Advanced Materials and Characterization Techniques is organised by Department of Materials & Metallurgical Engineering (MME) MANIT, Bhopal from Dec 9-13, 2019. The objective of this workshop is to impart basic and practical knowledge of the advanced tools used for material characterisation to the research scholars, teachers, scientists and industry personals working in different fields in industries, academic institutes as well as research organizations. A number of demonstrative experiments will be carried out to give the participants a feeling of the experimental details and instrumental facilities.
The fascinating and ever-growing world of materials is very vast. The understanding of such a wide variety of materials demands an interdisciplinary knowledge of disciplines such as materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. Different tools need to be used for the complete characterisation of such materials, which involve phase analysis, compositional characterisation, structural elucidation, microstructural analysis, size of materials and surface characteristics.
Speakers will be drawn from MANIT, IITs, IISERs, AIIMS and CSIRs laboratories.
Each lecture will be followed by a highly interactive question-answer session. In addition to lectures, demonstrative experiments on Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Spectroscopy (UV, Raman, FTIR), Atomic Force Microscopy, Advanced Materials (Shape memory alloys, Thin films, Fuel cell, Hydrogen storage materials, Advanced composites), and other most useful characterisation tools which are highly beneficial for the participants will be carried out.
- Industry: Rs. 2000/-
- Faculty Members: Rs. 1500/-
