Advanced Winter School in Geospatial Technologies for Biodiversity Conservation and Management [Dec 9-29, Pune]: No Fee; Register by Nov 30: Expired
The DST Sponsored Advanced Winter School in Geospatial Technologies (Focus: Biodiversity Conservation and Management, 9-29 December 2019, Pune), supported by NRDMS, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India will be conducted by the Institute of Environment Education and Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune. This programme is for inservice candidates and is an initiative of the NRDMS, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
This three week course will exclusive focus on the use of open source software. The course will provide introduction to use of geospatial technology in biodiversity /wildlife /forestry issues and include hands on sessions for mapping using high resolution images with open source software, landscape fragmentation analysis, habitat suitability analysis, corridor analysis, species distribution modelling, use of social media data to determine trends, determining carbon sequestration, assessment using google earth engine, geospatial techniques for building peoples biodiversity register, etc.
About the Organizer
The Institute of Environment Education and Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, is a pioneer reserach and academic department of the Bharati Vidyapeeth Univeristy, (ranked 62 in the country in NIRF ranking with a A + grade for consecutive three accreditation cycles). The Institute has conducted path braking work in using science and technology for policy advocacy in the field of environment science, wildlife conservation and geospatial technologies
