NPC Webinar Corrosion

Webinar on Total Corrosion Management in Industry by NPC [Nov 19, 3 Pm]: Registrations Open

About the Webinar

Corrosion is basically a destruction or deterioration of a material because of chemical or electrochemical reaction with its environment and occurs in all industrial installations. The direct global cost of corrosion is estimated to be US$ 2.5 trillion, which is equivalent to 3.4 % of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) according to National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE).

This cost typically does not include indirect cost such as: loss in productivity due to outages, delays, failures, individual health and safety, and environmental consequences, etc. In Indian industries, the direct cost of corrosion is about US$ 26.1 billion and the indirect cost of corrosion is about US$ 39.8 billion. It was also reported that an estimated savings of the order of US$ 9.3 billion which is about 35% of direct cost of corrosion, can be achieved by adopting proper corrosion control, prevention, and management system by Indian industry.

Date: 19 Nov 2020
