The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Nagpur is organizing an International Webinar in honor of Maryam Mirzakhani (May 12, 1977 – July 14, 2017), the only woman to win a Fields medal for her outstanding contributions to “the dynamics and geometry of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces”.
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur is one of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology and an Institute of National Importance located in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The institute started functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s Regional Telecom Training Centre.
- Introductory talk on “Women in Mathematics” including a brief overview of “Life and mathematical work of Maryam Mirzakhani” followed by a screening of the Short Documentary “Journeys of Women in Mathematics” (created by IMU-CWM)
- Invited talk on “Cryptography and the Maths of Secrets” by Dr. Adriana Salerno, Associate Professor, Bates College, Maine, United States.
