Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore is rated among the top 10 engineering colleges in India. As one of the most prominent colleges in the region, it is home to a diverse student body of 35,000 students representing around 60 countries and each Indian state.
Overview
VIT Hack aims to provide a defining platform for participants from all over the world to travel to India and contribute their ideas as solutions to real-world problems. In this global event, we hope to create a confluence of different cultures and ideas from around the world. Tracks related to emerging technologies aim to expand the participants’ horizons so as to spark innovation.
Problem statements will also be driven towards social causes to help channel the participants’ thoughts into impactful change. Participants will be given the opportunity to learn, to grow and to adapt their ideas into the change they wish to see.
VIT Hack is focused on bringing leading industry professionals, tech pioneers, and trailblazers to help ignite the fire of innovation in participants. The hackathon is completely free of cost to attend. While technical knowledge is certainly an aid, it is not essential, participants must also work on building a team that surpasses expectations in pitch and management. All that we require is you get your best ideas along with the right team to have a great experience.

Themes
Agriculture: In a country where agriculture is a primary occupation, the benefits or advantages for farmers are either ignored or poorly implemented. You get to decide how to incorporate technology and innovation through a traditional livelihood to ensure proper accessibility and availability for the backbone of the nation.
Mobility: Horribly maintained roads and gross traffic mismanagement has always been a sight for sore eyes. Figure out new ways to refine transportation facilities and improve daily means of commute. With strategic ideas and proper implementation, travelling does not have to be a nightmare anymore.
Smart Communication: The key to maintaining a reliable connection with anybody depends on the power of communication. From personal contacts to virtual connections, we have come a long way in this field. Create a better platform to make communication and convenience go hand in hand.
IOT: The Internet of things can be basically defined as the extension of Internet connectivity into physical devices and everyday objects. Through this particular track, explore the backbone of connectivity through an interconnected network of data exchange.

Healthcare: From a normal blood test to an ultrasound scan, medical technology has always been a huge part of our lives. With an increasing dependence on medical services and more complex equipment, the need for medical technology is essential. Expand the fields of biotechnology to sustain a better quality of healthcare.

Smart Energy: With an increasing population and even greater resources utilisation, a dystopian future is not so far away if a blind eye is turned to the current situation at hand. Transform the field of resource consumption to ensure a sustainable environment for the future.
Details
If you love to code, you are more than welcome to participate in the Hackathon. The developer/developers of the web/mobile application will have all rights and own the IP of the product. However, all code needs to be in public domain (open source) so that it can be evaluated by the judges.
