Call for Papers: National Conference on Fungal Biology @ University of Jammu [Nov 16-18]: Submit by Oct 25
The National Conference on Fungal Biology: Recent Trends and Future Prospects and the 44th Annual meeting of Mycological Society of India will be held on November 16-18 at the University of Jammu.
About Mycological Society of India
MSI is a scientific body constituted for the advancement in the subject of mycology, the
study of fungi including mushrooms, moulds, truffles, yeasts, lichens, plant pathogens and
medicinally important fungi. The society was founded in January 1973 by a team of
mycologists led by Prof. C.V. Subramanian, Former Director, C.A.S. in Botany, University of
Madras, Chennai, India
About the conference
In view of their metabolic and physiological versatility along with their intrinsic resistance toward physical and chemical stresses, fungi hold great promises for biotechnology thereby
making them unique among other biotechnologically-relevant microorganisms.
Recent advances in general fungal biology and fungal genetics including molecular and cell biology, genomics, evolution, and synthetic biology have led to the better understanding of the basic and advanced biology of economically relevant filamentous fungi making them attractive as microbial cell factories.
However, in view of the ever expanding population, there is an ardent and increasing need to detect fungi and their metabolites in relation to food safety and security, crop protection, clinical diagnosis of human and plant diseases and environmental sustainability.
To add to the understanding of fungal biology, their sustainable use and efficient integration of post-genomic data for future research, following conference themes have been envisaged with Keynote Lectures, Award Lectures, Invited talks, Oral and Poster presentations etc.
- Fungal Diversity, Systematics and Evolution
- Fungal Biotechnology and Applications
- Plant-Microbe interactions (Mycorhhizae, PGPRs)
- Medical Mycology and Mycotoxicology
- Fungal Endophytes
- Fungal Pathogenesis and Disease Management
- Mushroom Biology

of conference themes. Interested participants are invited to contribute their papers for oral or poster presentation
