Launched in February 2017 by Her Majesty the Queen at a reception at Buckingham palace, the year of culture will see an incredible programme of cultural events and activities organised by the British Council, together with the Indian High Commission in London, UK institutions and their Indian counterparts, with the aim to connect and inspire people to celebrate the long-standing relationship and vibrant cultural history.
On 14 October 2017, the British Council is organising a day of activities and engagement for schools across the country. Students and teachers will experience an action packed day of learning through a quiz competition, collaborative storytelling competition with visual art, and a photography competition.
The participants will also be able to experience MixTheCity— an interactive music platform that draws users to explore the music of a particular region and create their unique music compositions that can be shared online. The ultimate aim of all these activities will be to capture the essence of UK—India partnership and collaboration across the period of 70 years.
The event will help in enriching the knowledge of the participants about the culture of India and the UK and will help in making new friends by connecting over 200 people over the day and many thousands more through the social media platforms.
We are delighted to invite participation from schools to an exciting action-packed day of collaboration and creativity involving teachers and students of classes 6–12.
The day will have various competitions which will happen across the day in the British Council Delhi premise.
