Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan. From its humble beginning, the institution has grown exponentially to that of having more than 33,000 students.
The School of Biosciences and Technology (SBST) is one amongst the best centres in
Biotechnology approved by Department of Science and Technology (FIST), Govt. of India.
This program Cell Culture, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics organised by The School of Biosciences and Technology will be held at Vellore Institute of Technology. The aim of the program is to introduce and train the students with basic techniques required to carry out research in the field of biological science.
Topics

  • Molecular Biology Techniques: Agarose gel electrophoresis and Real time PCR. Cloning,
    plasmid isolation, recombinant protein induction and purification by affinity chromatography.
  • Cell Culture Techniques: Harvesting and Passaging, MTT assay, Transfection, SDSPAGE,
    Western blot and Scanning electron microscope.
  • Bioinformatics: Online tools to analyse biomolecular structures, protein – protein
    interactions, bioinformatics and drug discovery.
  • Animal Handling Techniques : Different routes of drug administration and collection of biological fluids and Mouse anatomy.
