About the Program
In the modern information-rich era, the role of a teacher is vital in selecting the particular information available as resources and process it into the knowledge and ultimately to the wisdom. Open Education Resources (OERs) have emerged as an effective tool for the teaching-learning process in this digital era. India has initiated the creation of OERs in the form of e-content through UGC and NPTEL a decade ago. Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, has also developed an indigenous IT platform, SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds), that facilitates hosting of all the courses, to be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time. SWAYAM has been initiated and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality.
However, the majority of teachers are still not familiar with the use of OERs and also face difficulties in OERs designing for different platforms like SWAYM, NPTEL, etc. Therefore, the Faculty Development Centre, HNB Garhwal University is organizing a short- term training program on “Open Educational Resources in Higher Education: Prospects and Challenges” during December 17-23, 2019. The training program aims to trigger and bring about a radical change in the ICT based teaching pedagogy and shall cover the following points:
- OER repositories and platforms,
- Blended and flipped learning through OERs,
- Applications of OERs for teaching-learning,
- Designing and developing OER in different platforms,
- Quality control in OERs
- Intellectual property rights for OER,
