The Forest Rights and Governance Project, an initiative by the Centre for Science, Technology & Society, School of Habitat Studies, Mumbai invites applications for the post of program officer position for twenty months.
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 and was awarded the ‘deemed to be university status in 1964. TISS is fully funded by the University Grants Commission, Government of India, and operates from its main campus in Mumbai, and the off-campuses at Tuljapur, Guwahati, and Hyderabad.
The Program Officer will carry out independent research and policy advocacy work on Forest Rights and Governance in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, and Odisha. Broadly, the position requires to- (1) analyze the policy and institutional challenges in the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, (2) critically examine the livelihood and governance implications of the Forest Rights Act. The position requires intensive field-work and discussion with government officers, Gram Sabha members, and experts as per the requirement of the project.
- Masters in social science and law.
- Knowledge in the field of forest rights and governance.
