The World Photography Organisation is a global platform for photography initiatives. Working across up to 180 countries, our aim is to raise the level of conversation around photography by celebrating the best imagery and photographers on the planet. We pride ourselves on building lasting relationships with both individual photographers as well as our industry-leading partners around the world.

The World Photography Organisation hosts a year-round portfolio of events including the Sony World Photography Awards, the world’s leading photography competition, and PHOTOFAIRS, international art fairs dedicated to photography.

The Student Competition

The Student competition rewards and showcases the work of the world’s most talented photography students.

Open to academic institutions worldwide, students are challenged to submit a series of three to five images responding to a particular brief.

Competition Theme

2020 Brief: Invisible lines

The world we live in is structured around a variety of invisible lines. This could be in a natural environment (ie oceans, mountains, forests), in our society (ie gender, wealth, race), or intellectually. Show the judges the stories of people fighting against that and trying to break the invisible lines that most intrigues you in a positive way.
