Applications are invited for Research Associate (Chemistry) Under DST Funded Project at IIT Ropar for the year 2021. The last date of application is 27 September 2021.

Applications are invited from the Indian nationals for the position of Research Associate (RA) to work in the DST National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) funded project titled “Modeling of Atmospheric Reactions by Quantum Dynamics on the Coupled Potential Energy Surfaces” under the supervision of undersigned. The position is temporary and is available immediately.

Eligibility

Essential: Ph. D. in Chemistry/Physical Chemistry/Chemical Physics/Physics with good academic record. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST) in their Master’s.

Desirable: Working knowledge of Unix, Fortran/C programming, Python, Gaussian, Molpro, Jupyter notebook, etc and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job description

The aim is to compute coupled ground and low lying excited states potential energy surfaces and nonadiabatic couplings present in the atmospheric molecules. Study the quantum dynamics of collision processes to arrive at reaction rates. The candidate should be interested to mentor the Masters’ and Doctoral scholars working in the group.
