About the Project
Project title: Development of Guidelines for Corrosion Prevention of Water Pipelines
About the project: Steels and to some extent cast iron are extensively used for water and sewage pipelines. The primary advantage of employing them for this application is low cost and good mechanical properties. However, these materials suffer corrosion on exposure to water leading to pipeline failures.
In water pipeline, corrosion results in huge water loss. In addition, the water quality suffers and the internal walls become too rough, due to formation of tubercles resulting in reduction of pipeline capacity and increased power consumption.
Therefore, there is a need to control corrosion of water pipelines. The project aims at establishing a scientific understanding of the corrosion failure of the pipeline and predicting of corrosion of pipelines and finally bring out guidelines for implementation to prevent corrosion.
Ph.D in metallurgical engineering, chemistry, materials science with exposure to corrosion Or MTech with in corrosion with 3 years of experience with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
The project personnel need to have expertise in corrosion/metallurgy/. Able to carryout independent research. write scientific documents/ visit the sites of water pipelines and analyze the problem and obtain appropriate data.

Consolidated salary Rs. 49000/- p.m. + 24% HRA (If applicable).
The position is temporary for a period of 1 year and tenable only for the duration of the project. The appointment is for time bound project and the candidate is required to work mainly for the successful completion of the project.
The selection committee may offer lower or higher designation and lower or higher salary depending upon the experience and performance of the candidate in the interview.
