GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Gangtok invites applications for Project positions (JRF, JRF & RA) for the year 2020. Applications are invited for following purely project-based temporary positions under various projects at Sikkim Regional Centre, Pangtang (Gangtok).

Junior Project Fellow

Project title: “Water security in Himalayan through Spring-Ecosystem Assessment and management”

Qualification: First class Master degree in Geology, Geography, Hydrology, Remote Sensing/GIS/ Physical sciences or relevant disciplines.

Desirable: Experience and sound knowledge of field work in mountainous region/ data collections and database management. Proficiency in survey work/ community level consultancy. Physically fit to work in Himalayan region.

Emoluments: Rs. 20,000/- per month + 8% HRA or minimum Rs 1800

Age Limit: 28 yrs

Junior Project Fellow

Project title: “Community driven eco-smart model village development to improve livelihoods and foster ecological security in the Himalaya”

Eligibility: First class Master degree in Botany/ Forestry/ Environment Science/ Social Science/ Natural Resource Management or relevant disciplines.

Desirable: Proficiency in village survey/ database management with reference to Sikkim Himalaya. Physically fit to work in the Himalayan Region.

Emoluments: Rs. 20,000/- per month + 8% HRA or minimum Rs 1800

Age Limit: 28 yrs

Junior Project Fellow

Project Title: “Fostering Climate Smart Communities in the Indian Himalayan Region”

Eligibility: First Class Master Degree in Physical Science/ Environmental Science/ Geology/ Earth Sciences/ Remote Sensing/ GIS/ Natural Resource Management/ Environmental Management or relevant subjects.

Desirable: Experience of environmental data collection and analysis. Proficiency in survey work/ community consultation. Knowledge of working with analytical tools and software. Working experience in the Himalayan region.

Emoluments: Rs. 20,000/- per month + 8% HRA or minimum Rs 1800

Age Limit: 28 yrs

Junior Project Fellow

Project title: “Mainstreaming Himalayan Biodiversity for Sustainable Development”

Qualification: First Class Master degree in Botany/Forestry/ Environment Science/ Life Science or relevant disciplines.

Desirable: Experience in vegetation survey/ data-base management with reference to Sikkim Himalaya Or Experience in forest inventories/ Remote Sensing and GIS with reference to Himalaya. Preference will be given to candidates having working experience in Himalaya.

Emoluments: Rs. 20,000/- per month + 8% HRA or minimum Rs 1800

Age Limit: 28 yrs

Junior Project Fellow

Project title: “Spring Rejuvenation for water security in Himalaya”

Qualification: First class Master degree in Geology, Geography, Hydrology, Remote Sensing/GIS/ Physical sciences or relevant disciplines.

Desirable: Experience and sound knowledge of field work in mountainous region/ data collections and database management. Proficiency in survey work/ community level consultancy. Physically fit to work in Himalayan region.

Emoluments: Rs. 20,000/- per month + 8% HRA or minimum Rs 1800

Age Limit: 28 yrs

Field Assistant

Eligibility: Graduate in any discipline or Intermediate with 5 year experience in relevant field in the Himalaya.

Desirable: (i) Experience of field work and data collection in the Himalayan region (ii) Knowledge of computer (i.e. MS-Office, Internet) and official work.

Salary: Rs. 12,000/- fixed

Age limit: 45 Years

Junior Research/ Project Fellow

Project title: “Timberline and altitudinal gradient ecology of Himalayas and human use sustenance in warming climate”.

Qualification: First Class Master degree in Botany/ Forestry/ Environment Science/ Life Science, or relevant disciplines

Desirable: Experience in vegetation survey / data-base management with reference to Sikkim Himalaya Or Experience in forest inventories/Remote Sensing and GIS with reference to Himalaya.

Emoluments: Rs 31,000/- fixed per month + HRA(8%) for NET/JRF qualified; @ Rs 20,000/- fixed per month + HRA(8%) fornon NET qualified candidate

Age Limit: 28 yrs

Research Associate

Project title: “Timberline and altitudinal gradient ecology of Himalayas and human use sustenance in warming climate”.

Qualification: Ph.D. in Botany/Forestry/ Environment Science/ Life Science, or relevant disciplines.

Desirable: Experience in vegetation survey / data base management with reference to Himalayan region. Good writing skills supported by publication records.

Emoluments: Rs. 47,000/- per month + HRA@8%

Age Limit: 35 yrs
