IIT Delhi is organising Training Programme on Biogas Production, Purification and Power Generation on 4-5 March 2020. Biogas has proved to be a viable and sustainable fuel in the physical and socio-economic conditions of India. The rising population and small-scale industries are pushing the use of traditional sources of energy beyond the sustainable generation capacity.
Amidst all this, the biogas technology has gained popularity in India for its multitudes of benefits. Although biogas is seen as a best alternative rural energy resource, there are various factors which has hindered its spread in both rural and urban sector.
Technical and informational barriers, lack of technical capacity for construction, maintenance and absence of state level call centres/service centres for plant repair (trouble shootings) are major obstruction in the biogas development & dissemination in India.
The aim of this programme is to impart training to govt. functionaries, budding entrepreneurs, supervisors and consultants to various aspects of biogas technology, importance of biogas as a fuel, present status of biogas programmes, interalia details about biogas up-gradation, bottling, power generation etc. The programme is also intended for field supervisory functionaries involved in the implementation of biogas programmes in India.
