Postdoctoral Position in the Development of Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials at IIT Gandhinagar: Apply by Nov 15: Expired

Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Position in the Development of Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials at IIT Gandhinagar for the year 2021. The last date of application is 15 November.

About the Position

The SParK Lab in the Chemical Engineering Department at IIT, Gandhinagar has an opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher to design and develop hybrid organic-inorganic materials. The candidate will implement molecular biology strategies to construct recombinant DNA and express the proteins in host micro-organisms (e.g. E. coli).

The candidate will seek to understand and exploit interactions of these designer proteins with inorganic building blocks (nanomaterials) to achieve hybrid materials. This research opportunity will involve the candidate to employ light, electron and atomic force microscopy tools to validate and characterize the generation of hybrid materials.

Finally, these materials will be evaluated for their efficacy/efficiency towards their intended application. We envision that this approach will lead to the generation of materials with superior properties that are likely inaccessible by employing only one of the individual components.

Minimum Qualification: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Chemistry or a related discipline ; Candidates who have recently submitted their PhD thesis are eligible to apply

Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques such DNA/RNA isolation, Primer design, Mutagenesis PCR, Restriction digest, Gibson assembly, Gel electrophoresis, Design and construction of recombinant vectors, Transformations of vectors. Demonstrated experience in protein expression in E. coli systems and purification through chromatography techniques including affinity IMAC, IEX, SEC. Ability to convey information effectively in the form of manuscripts and conference presentations and to work independently.

Initial appointment is for 1 year, extendable up to 1 more year based on performance.

Candidates must email a (1) Complete CV with date of birth, (2) Contact information of three references and (3) Cover letter stating previous research experience and motivation to apply for the current position to Prof. Karthik Subramaniam Pushpavanam ( with the subject line “Postdoctoral Application at IITGN”. All documents should be emailed as a single pdf

50,000 INR per month + 10,000 INR HRA (No HRA will be paid if the campus housing is availed).
