Applications are invited for two positions of “Aryabhatta Post-Doctoral Fellowship (APDF)” at the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences. Candidates with outstanding academic records are encouraged to apply. Applications are received throughout the year and selection will be made four times in a year. Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) is a leading research institute in Nainital, Uttarakhand which specializes in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Atmospheric Sciences. An autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, the institute is situated at Manora Peak (1,951 m (6,401 ft)), about 9 km from Nainital, a popular hill station
Ph.D. degree awarded from a duly recognized University/Institute in the field of Astronomy & Astrophysics / Atmospheric Sciences. The candidate should not be more than 32 years on the last date of submission of application.
Rs. 75000/-per month consolidated. (Applicable taxes as per Govt.of India norms). A research grant of Rs.5.0 lakhs per year will also be provided. Candidates will be provided economy class airfare to join the position. Foreign nationals/NRIs will also be provided return airfare.
Additionally, a travel grant of Rs. 2.0 lakhs (for the complete tenure) are available for nationals/International conferences. Furnished Accommodation will be provided on campus on a nominal charge basis.
Initially for two years, extendable to one more year after successful review.

a research proposal (not exceeding 2 pages) using ARIES facilities and the name of five researchers (one must be his/her thesis supervisor) who can provide a recommendation letter for the candidate to firstname.lastname@example.org. It is expected that the research proposal to be relevant to the research at ARIES.
