Ph.D. Admissions 2020 at IISER Bhopal: Apply by April 1

About

Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. program in Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Economic Sciences, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (English, Philosophy, and Linguistics), Mathematics and Physics for the semester commencing from August 2020.

Eligibility
  • For Biological Sciences: M.Sc./M.Tech. or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale Students with M.Sc./M.Tech. or equivalent degree in a branch of Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics can also apply provided they have an aptitude for research in Biological Sciences. Additionally, a National level examination such as GATE / CSIR-UGC-JRF / DBT-JRF (category I only) / ICMR-JRF (category A only) / CSIR-UGC-LS / Provisional letter of INSPIRE-JRF for Ph.D. / Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship or any other recognized score is mandatory.
  • For Chemical Engineering: M.E./M.Tech./M.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or an allied area with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject).
  • For Chemistry: M.Sc./M.Tech. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject). Mathematics at the 10+2 level is desirable. For an application to be considered in Physical Chemistry, Mathematics in the 10+2 level as well as in B.Sc. (undergraduate) is mandatory.
  • For Earth & Environmental Sciences: Master’s (M.Sc.)/M.Tech or B.Tech-M.Tech integrated Degrees in any of the disciplines of Earth Science/ Geology/ Geophysics/ Atmospheric Science/ Oceanography/Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemical, Environmental, Computer, Electronic and Communication, Wireless Communication and Networking, and Civil Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale.
  • For Economic Sciences: M.Sc./M.A. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject).
  • For Maths: M.Sc./M.Tech. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject).
  • For Electrical Engineering & Computer Science: Students with M.Tech./ME./M.S. in EC/CS/EE/IT/IN with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject).
  • For Humanities & Social Science: M.Sc./M.A/M.Phil Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject).
  • For Physics: M.Sc./M.Tech. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject).
Fellowship

All selected candidates will be eligible to receive JRF fellowship as per the funding agency norms, in vogue.
