The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Karnataka is organizing an NSTEDB-DST Sponsored Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Entrepreneurship Development from February 15 to 27, 2021.
NITK Surathkal is a premier Institute engaged in imparting quality technological education and providing support to research and development activities. NITK is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by an act of Parliament. NITK has carved a niche for itself among the best technical institutes in India. NITK offers 9 UG, 26 PG programs, and Ph.D. programs.
Today’s science and technology students are equipped with up-to-date knowledge, but they cannot identify real-life problems and develop a product to address them. Faculty members act as a mentor for science and technology students if they are equipped with skills and knowledge of entrepreneurship development, then can motivate students for entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship skills will help students to identify a problem and propose a commercial long-lasting, affordable solution to meet users’ demands. The developed product would help in creating new employment. Therefore, to create awareness about entrepreneurship, it is necessary to empower faculty members first. The proposed FDP aims to knowledge faculty members about entrepreneurship development.
The FDP aims at:
- Creating awareness about entrepreneurship.
- Training faculty members with skills and knowledge that are essential for inculcating entrepreneurial values in students.
- Guiding and monitoring students’ progress towards an entrepreneurial career.
- Entrepreneurship Motivation.
- Process of Selection and Identification of Entrepreneurs.
- Designing of Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme.
- Skill Required for a Trainer.
- Enterprise Planning Process.
- Communication and Leadership.
- Preparation of Action Plan/ Proposal.
In addition to lectures, the program includes case studies, group discussions, simulation exercises, and virtual industry visits.
Who can Attend?
This faculty development program is open to the faculty members of science and technology institutions, polytechnics, and entrepreneurship development organizations.
Experts from Industry, Entrepreneurship Development Institute, NIT, IIT, IIM, and MSME Development Institute will deliver talks on the process and practice of entrepreneurship development.
