About

The Department of Computer Engineering, Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), TEQIP-III Sponsored One Week Online Short Term Training Program (STTP) On Data Security and Privacy from October 26 to 30, 2020.
The institute, one of the pioneering engineering institutions of the country, was established in 1961 as Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology and was given a status of National Institute of Technology, in 2002. At present, there are six undergraduate courses, seventeen postgraduate courses, and Ph.D. programs in all disciplines of engineering and applied sciences. It has an excellent placement record with a number of top-ranking companies visiting the campus. The whole campus has the connectivity of the internet with fiber-optic networks including faculty quarters and student hostels.

Program Objectives

One of the most prominent ones is security and privacy. The term “security” now not only applies to the security of “information”, but it applies to the security of humans (e.g., to protect from malicious behavior of smart healthcare), cyber-physical systems, networks, etc. from adversaries.
The program is aimed to assist participants from academia and industry as well as PG/ Ph.D. students about emerging research topics in the area of security and privacy, covering topics from modern cryptography, information security, network security, privacy/ anonymity, and applications in the areas such as Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and Blockchain Technology. The STTP also includes hands-on sessions on topics related to data security and privacy.

Topics

The indicative pools of topics to be covered are as follows but are not limited to:

  • Introduction to various cryptosystems
  • Security and privacy in online social networks
  • Privacy in Location-based services
  • Big data privacy, Anonymization Algorithms
  • IoT security protocols
  • Searchable Encryption
  • Security & Privacy in Context-Aware Computing
  • Access Control Models, Key Derivation Functions (KDF), White-box Cryptography
  • Network Security
  • Security and Privacy of Blockchain
  • Machine learning algorithms for security and privacy
Who can Attend?

Faculty Members from AICTE recognized institutes, universities, research scholars/ UG, PG students, and industry personnel working in the concerned/ allied discipline. Seats are limited to 35-40 participants. So, the selection will be as per the eligibility, and on a First Come First Serve basis. E-certificate will be awarded to the participant who attends all the sessions and successfully completes the course. Looking at the academic activities across the various institutions, the STTP Online sessions will be arranged in the afternoon.

Remuneration

Eminent speakers are from various prestigious institutions such as IIT, NIT, research organizations, industries as well as faculties from host institutions.

  1. Academicians/ Scientist/ Researchers: Rs. 600/-
  2. Students: UG/ PG/ Ph.D.: Rs. 300/-
  3. Industry Person/ Engineers: Rs. 5000/-

The non-refundable registration fee should be paid online through net banking to “Director SVNIT TEQIP IRG” A/C No: 0277101028663, Canara Bank, Nanpura Branch Surat, IFSC: CNRB0000277. While paying through the net banking, in remarks the purpose is to be written as “DSP 2020 Registration Fee”. (kindly save the receipt or take a screenshot of the payment). UG/ PG/ Research scholars have to attach a bonafide certificate or photocopy of their valid identity card along with registration form.
