About the Course
Coatings are an integral part of our daily life. The vital role that coatings play in every sphere of our life is unquestionable as every item we use is covered with a layer of coating.
The intriguing surface characteristics of coatings even at nanoscale create/ improve a material’s functionalities such as corrosion resistance, friction reduction, antifouling and antibacterial properties, self-cleaning, heat and radiation resistance for commercial applications. Questions must be looming large on how coating works in different sectors.
Well, the extensive use of coatings can be garnered from the fact that right from the food we consume to the clothes we wear, the medicines we intake or the furniture we use, the vehicles we drive or the paints we use to colour our houses each object needs a protective barrier to enhance and impart special properties to the base material thereby boosting durability as well as beautifying the products. It is also used to augment the specific characteristics of the base material such as functionality, strength, conductivity, magnetism, etc.
This short term course is designed to provide insights in trending technological developments; generate areas for future scope of research and development as well as deliver insights to new applications used in coating. The course would also bridge gaps between the industry and the learners, providing insights into the various technicalities of the industry.
