The National Commission for Women has, with a view to ensure adherence to the Constitutional and Legal requirements, decided to inter-alia launch a nationwide programme for generating awareness about legal rights of women to ensure that all sections of society are fully conversant with the law and contribute effectively for their successful implementation.
As part of this programme, the Commission has decided to conduct a competition to assess and enhance legal awareness about legal rights of women for college and university students in all States and Union Territories in India.
The competition will be held at three levels viz.
- College/University level to be conducted by the concerned college or university;
- State level to be conducted by the State Commission for Women or any other body as may be nominated by the National Commission for Women in consultation with the State/UT Government;
- National level to be conducted by the National Commission for Women.
The Commission will give prizes to winners of the competition as per the details given below:
The organizing College/University will be given an amount of Rs.20,000/- each for organizing the competition at their own level. The State level competition will be organized by the State Commission for Women in the concerned State and facilities available with College/University will be utilized for the purpose.
The College and Universities ensuring participation of 100% students in the competition will also be suitably felicitated. The College/University level competitions are to be organized during September and October 2017 and the State level competitions will be held before December, 2017 and latest by January, 2018.
The competition will be based on the Module prepared by the National Commission for Women for Legal Awareness Programme. Prize winners at the National/State/UT level will have the opportunity to intern with the National Commission for Women for a period upto three months during which they can study/undertake research in specific areas relating to laws concerning women.
The Colleges/Universities willing to conduct the competition may mail their proposal to email@example.com by or before 31.08.2017. The proposals will be processed and entertained on first come first serve basis keeping in view the funds allocated for the programme for the current year.
