The Project Mars International Art and Film Contest 2018 is co-organised by NASA and SciArt Exchange.

About the contest

NASA is leading the next steps of human space exploration in the vicinity of the Moon and on toward Mars. Project Mars invites college students and early career professionals to learn about NASA’s deep space endeavors, including the Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System rocket and deep space gateway concept, and create their visualization of what this expedition may look like.

Project Mars

  1. Film Category

Three prizes will be awarded in the film category:

  • $10,000: Grand Prize
  • $5,000: Judge’s Prize
  • $5,000: Judge’s Prize

2. Poster Category

Eight prizes will be awarded in the poster category:

  • $1,500 First Position (One)
  • $1,000 Second Position (Two)
  • $500 Third Position (Five)
Submission Guidelines
  1. Film

Videos can be submitted as private Video or YouTube links.

  • Duration: 2 to 5 minutes
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Frame rates: 29.97, 24, or 25
  • Bitrate: 20 Mbs
  • Codec: H.264
  • Sound Codec: AAC-LC
  • Audio sample rate: 48 KHz
  • Audio bitrate: 320 kbps

2. Poster

Posters should be submitted as PDF Files optimized for on screen viewing.

  • Standard sheet size: 27″ x 41″
  • Raster images may be used for poster elements. Images should be no smaller than 150 dpi. Rasterised typography should be 300 dpi or greater.
  • All fonts should be converted to outlines prior to submission.
How to submit
  • The entries should be submitted in the given format online.
  • For submitting multiple entries, the participants are required to fill out a unique submission form for each entry.
