About the Fellowship:
The Max Weber Programme is the largest international postdoctoral programme in the Social Sciences and Humanities in Europe. It offers around 50-55 fully funded Fellowships to suitably qualified researchers from anywhere in the world who work in or across the relevant disciplines of the EUI (Economics, History, Law and Social and Political Sciences and their subfields). The working language of the Programme is English.
It is unique in offering a structured Programme covering all aspects of an academic career, including support for academic writing in English, applying for research grants,  the opportunity to teach in some of Europe’s leading universities and to develop a strategy for a successful approach to the academic labour market.
Who Can Apply? 

  1. The Programme is open to applicants who are within 5 years of the completion of their PhD from anywhere in the world, regardless of nationality, and is not restricted to citizens of the EU.
  2. All things being equal, preference is given to those who have recently completed a doctorate, not had a postdoctoral position before and/or are on the job market.

How to Apply?
The deadline for applying for the academic year 2018-19 is 25 October 2017 (24h00 – CEST). For Economics later applications will be considered until all the positions are filled. However, prospective candidates are strongly advised to apply by the standard deadline of 25 October given that the selection committee would normally expect to fill all or almost all positions from the initial applicant pool.
Applications have to be submitted through the Online Application Form.
There are two distinct phases in the application process:
1. Register your application as early as possible
You are encouraged to register your application, by inserting your personal details and referee details as soon as possible. This is important to allow sufficient time for your referees to submit the reference letters before the deadline. References will not be accepted after the deadline.
2. Submit your application by the deadline 25 October
Once you have registered your application you may continue to work on the application details and attachments until the deadline of 25 October. Submit the application only when you have filled in all the information correctly and have successfully uploaded the final version of the attachments.
