Applications are invited for JRF (Materials Science and Engineering) at IIT Gandhinagar for the year 2021. The last date of application is 14 August.
Applicants are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) on a research project titled, Multi-phasic models of Solid-Electrolyte Interphases in Lithium batteries: Towards Exascale Simulations.
About the Project
The project will involve multi-scale computer simulations, such as Density Functional Theory (DFT), and Classical Molecular Dynamics (CMD) to model the mechanisms of ion-conduction in lithium battery electrolytes and solid-electrolyte interphases. The work would require basic understanding of concepts of physical chemistry, solid-state physics and electrochemistry.
A prior experience with classical and/or DFT- MD simulations and/or python/FORTRAN coding and/or LAMMPS/ GROMACS/ VASP/ QuantumEspresso software will be considered as an extra factor. The Fellow will be provided suitable amount of intellectual freedom while pursuing the above topics.
She/he will also be involved in writing analysis programs to compute properties, attend conferences and write journal articles. Based on the subject to the performance, and the interest of the Fellow, an opportunity to pursue Ph.D. at IIT Gandhinagar may also be considered.
B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc. (graduated or in the final semester) with a qualified NET/GATE score and minimum 60% marks, or M.E./M.Tech. (graduated or in the final semester) in any of the following or related branches: Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Engineering Physics, Chemistry (Physical, specialization would be preferred). It is desirable that the candidate has some exposure to one or more of these areas – molecular simulations, ab-initio simulations, computer programming.
- Interested candidates are requested to send by email (see Contact information below) a single PDF containing the following:
a. Resume containing all qualifications, experience and contact details,
b. Grade-sheets from the completed semesters,
c. NET/GATE scorecard for B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc. candidates.
- Use “Application for JRF/IITGN: Firstname Lastname” as the subject of the email.
- Deadline for submission of application is 14th August 2021, 5 PM (IST) or until the position is filled. The candidates will be informed about their selection for interview.
₹ 31,000 (NET/GATE qualification required for B.E., B.Tech. or MSc)
