Applications are invited online for the following posts under DBT funded research projects at ICARIndian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode, Kerala. The positions are of temporary nature and co-terminus with the project. The eligible candidates are requested to submit their application online along with scanned copy of the required documents on or before 30.06.2020.

JRF (One Post)

Name of the project: Integrated development of turmeric sector in North Eastern and Bundelkhand region through sustainable technological interventions for improvement of productivity, quality and post-harvest processing technology under Good Agricultural Practices and organic production systems.

Eligibility: Postgraduate degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry/Analytical chemistry OR post graduate degree in professional courses ie. M.Sc in Biochemistry, selected through a process described any one of the following- Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Test – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. Scholars who are selected through national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions such as DST/ DBT/ DAE/ DOS/ DRDO/ MHRD/ ICAR/ ICMR/ IIT/ IISc/ IISER etc.

Desirable: One-year research experience in plant biochemistry.

Nature of Work: Work involves screening of turmeric genotypes for nutritional and quality parameters.

Duration: Up to 02.01.2023

Upper age limit : 35 years for men and 40 years for women as on the date of interview. Age relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Salary: Rs 31000/ month Plus HRA @ 16% for the 1st and 2nd year; Rs 35000/ month Plus HRA @ 16% for the 3rd year.

Name of the project: Characterization of endogenous and episomalpararetroviruses in black pepper.

Essential: M.Sc in Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology / M.Tech in Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology / M.Sc (Agri) in Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/Plant Pathology / M.Sc in Virology, selected through a process described any one of the following- Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Test – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. Scholars who are selected through national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/ institutions such as DST/ DBT/ DAE/ DOS/ DRDO/ MHRD/ ICAR/ ICMR/ IIT/ IISc/ IISER etc.

Desirable: One-year research experience in plant viruses

Nature of Work: Work involves isolation of DNA and RNA from plants, PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, invitro expression of protein, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, immunocapture PCR.

Duration: Up to 27th March 2021

Upper age limit: 35 years for men and 40 years for women as on the date of interview (Age relaxation as per Government of India rules).

Salary: Rs 31000/ month Plus HRA @ 16% for the 1st and 2nd year; Rs 35000/ month Plus HRA @ 16% for the 3rd year.
