The Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History is a national centre for information, education and research in ornithology and natural history in India. It was inspired by and named in honour of Salim Ali, the leading pioneer of ornithology in India.

1. Project Fellow 
Project Title

Assessing anthropogenic threats to large carnivore population in the Western Ghats part of Tamil Nadu, southern India.

Project Duration

Two years and six months; the selected candidate will be initially engaged for one year and his/her tenure may be extended for further periods on the basis of his/her performance or  requirement of the project.

Essential Educational Qualifications

Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/Wildlife Biology/Ecology/Zoology/Life Sciences/Environmental Science/ Biodiversity and Conservation, related subjects from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or above.

Desirable Qualifications

i) One year experience after PG Degree in field ecological studies that include habitat ecology/human-wildlife interactions/carnivore ecology,
ii) familiarity with GIS tools and analytical techniques in writing scientific publications,
iii) should be able to carry out rigorous field work independently and
iv) Proficiency in English

Emoluments

Rs. 29,000 consolidated per month (inclusive of HRA)

2. Junior Research Biologist
Project Title

In-situ and Ex-situ conservation of endemic edible nest swiftlet in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Project Duration

One year; the selected candidate will be initially engaged for one year and his/her tenure may be extended for further periods on the basis of the requirement of the project.

Essential Educational Qualifications

Masters’ Degree in Zoology/Wildlife Sciences/Environmental Management/Environmental Science/ Ecology and Evolution/Life Sciences, related subjects from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or above.

Desirable Qualifications

Proficiency in Hindi (speak and write)

Emoluments

Rs. 25,000 per month plus HRA as applicable.

3. Junior Research Biologist
Project Title

National Centre for monitoring and surveillance of impact of environmental contaminants on ecosystem components with special focus on birds in India.

Project Duration

One year

Essential Educational Qualifications

Masters Degree in Wildlife Science/Zoology/Environmental Science from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks or above.

Desirable Qualifications

i) One year experience after PG Degree in field and or laboratory in ecological/ecotoxicological studies
ii) Proficiency in English

Emoluments

Rs. 25,000 per month plus HRA as applicable.

Age

Below 28 years as on 21.10.2019; the upper age limit may be relaxed up to five years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and three years for OBC/Women and Physically Challenged category as per Central Government norm.
