  • Primary Location: India-New Delhi
  • Education: Essential: University Degree in Social Sciences, Communication or other Health related fields from a recognized university.Desirable: Masters in Social Sciences, Public Health, Health education, Health Promotion or related fields.
  • Experience: Essential: At least two years of professional experience in the field of journalism or media or public relations, including development communication. Desirable: Experience of work in UN and/or other international organizations.
  • Develop and implement WHO India Country Office risk communications plan within the Health Emergency Programme; 
  • Conduct risk communication training for government officials and other stakeholders at national/sub national levels on use of appropriate strategies and channels of communication for engaging communities;
  • Conduct media trainings for identified spokespersons;
  • Set-up systems and build and maintain capacities for risk communications in the WHO Country office;
  • Support government for developing and implementing national multi hazard and multisectoral risk communications plans in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and partners; 
  • Prepare key messages for priority risks and hazards and a plan on how to disseminate them during emergency response; 
  • Provide risk communication technical advice, plans, interventions, products and packages during various emergencies as part of the health response operations; 
  • Undertake field travel to states to support risk communications and programmatic communication response as requested;
  • Document response in risk communication to provide input for lessons learning, better preparedness and capacity development; 
  • Provide strategic advice/support to WHO technical teams on their communication and risk communication needs.
  • Support the work of WHO Country Office Communication Team in preparing and finalizing information materials including communication materials, meeting reports, messages on website and social media, translation of research findings, responding to queries from media and public to create visibility of the Country Office; 
  • Support resource mobilization for emergency programme; 
  • Other work as assigned by supervisor(s).

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at INR 1,560,510 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
