The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is an autonomous research organization fully funded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi. It is a premier Institute of national and international repute, devoted to research in various aspects of atmospheric sciences.

The Institute has excellent infrastructural facilities such as a high-performance computer, observational laboratories, modern library, workshop, etc. It has a strong link with various Universities and national and international organizations.

The Institute is currently looking for recruiting Assistant Engineer/Project Assistant purely and temporary short term contract basis.

1. Assistant Engineer (IT) for ICMPO 



Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent with at least 60% of marks from a recognized University/Institute Experience in website development and Desk Top Publishing (DTP) consisting of the modules like PageMaker, Coral Draw, Photoshop, HTML, Dreamweaver, Adobe InDesign, Drupal, PHP, JSP etc. Knowledge of online meeting setup tools Relevant experience of 3 years.

Desirable Qualifications

Should be imaginative and full of new ideas and thoughts, dedicated and hardworking. Should possess an intensive knowledge of DTP software and other basic operations of the computer along with basic knowledge of English.

Age Limit

35 years as on 03.07.2019

Consolidated Salary

Rs. 26,000/- per month.

03rd July 2019 at 09.00 a.m.


For the period up to 28.02.2020.

2. Project Assistant for SAC- ISRO Sponsored Project



Essential Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences/Oceanography/Physics/Chemistry/ Geophysics with Meteorology as one of the subject/Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/ Statistics with at least 60% marks from recognized University/Institute.

Desirable Qualifications

6 months to 1-year experience in atmospheric and/or oceanic sciences involving data acquisition and interpretation using sensors and equipment such as infra-red gas analysers, GHSGs analysers, automatic weather sensors etc. is a desirable qualification.

Age Limit

28 years as on 04.07.2019

Consolidated Salary

Rs. 22,000/- per month.

Interview Date & Reporting time

04 July 2019 at 09.00 a.m.


For the period up to 28.03.2020. The project may be extended one more year subject to the approval from the sponsoring agency.
