Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) Bangalore invites applications from Indian Nationals for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow to be placed at Neutron and Muon Facilities, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), UK, under the Mission on Nano Science & Technology (Nano-Mission) of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.

Eligibility

The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree in Science or Engineering with a very good academic record and have interests in using neutron and MuSR techniques in Nano Science and Technology. He/She should have some experience in diffraction/scattering techniques with Synchrotron X-ray or Neutron sources and/or MuSR techniques. They should be below 40 years of age and have evident capabilities in the relevant areas.

The selected candidate will be engaged in a research program that involves major use of Neutron and or Muon at the ISIS facility of RAL, UK. During the stay at ISIS, in addition to his/her work, the candidate will be trained in a wide range of beamlines available to Indian researchers. The candidate will interact closely with the other users from India and help them in collecting and analyzing data.

Tenure

The term of the position is for one year beginning January 01, 2020.

Fellowship

The Fellowship carries a consolidated monthly stipend of £2000 per month (inclusive of subsistence allowance).

Selection Process

The candidate will be selected based on the recommendation of a Selection Committee after the scrutiny of their bio-data and performance in the interview. Applicant’s academic and research records will be the key factors for consideration of the application.

Candidates may submit their application along with bio-data, a list of publications (attach reprints of 2 important papers), copies of certificates (B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Tech, Ph.D.), one-page synopsis of the Ph.D. thesis, a summary of research carried out, etc. The application should be in the prescribed format available here.
