About JAM 2021
Joint Admission Test for Masters is an examination on the comprehensive understanding of candidates in various undergraduate subjects including Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH).
A new paper on Economics is being added to JAM from 2021 onwards. JAM scores will be used for admission to M.Sc (2 years), Masters in Economics (2 years), Joint M.Sc-PhD, M.Sc PhD Dual degree, M.Sc-M.S (Research)/PhD dual degree and other Post-Bachelor Degree programmes at IITs for the academic session 2021-22.
JAM score will be used by IISc Bangalore for admission to Integrated PhD programmes. JAM will also be used by other centrally funded technical institutions such as NITs, IIEST Shibpur, SLIET Punjab and IISERS for admission to their programmes.
Eligibility and Minimum Educational Qualifications for JAM 2021
In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/SPI without rounding off (taking into account all subjects including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for Gen/OBC (NCL)/EWS Category and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD candidates.
Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the required eligibility as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by Sep 30, 2021.
Structure and Mode of JAM 2021
JAM 2021 will be conducted as a Computer based test (CBT) in online mode. A candidate can appear for either one test paper or two test papers by paying an additional fee for the second test paper. Candidates opting to appear for two papers must ensure that they do not choose test papers that are scheduled in the same session.
The exam will be held at multiple cities across India. The full list of centres is given in the official website.
JAM 2021 Pattern
JAM 2021 papers will be fully objective with 3 patterns of questions.
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
- Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and
- Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
How to apply
Applications will be accepted on the official JAM 2021 portal from September 10, 2020.
Female (all categories): ₹750 (one paper), ₹1050 (two papers)
All others: ₹1500 (one paper), ₹2100 (two papers)
