International Research Scholarships at University of South Australia: Multiple Deadlines

Applications are invited from international students who are willing to pursue a research degree at the University of South Australia.

The University of South Australia is a public research university in the Australian state of South Australia. It is a founding member of the Australian Technology Network of universities and is the largest university in South Australia with approximately 32,000 students.

The various scholarship details are given below.

 

1. Research Training Program international (RTPi) Scholarships

An RTPi scholarship will cover your tuition fees and your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), and provide a stipend (living allowance), but will not pay for travel expenses. A thesis allowance is funded to cover the cost of printing and binding the thesis.

Scholarship

At least $28,092 per annum (2020 stipend rate) for 3 years, with the possibility of one six-month extension (2020 stipend rate).

Eligibility Criteria
  • Generally, scholarship recipients must have first-class Honours or equivalent.
  • An awardee must be enrolled on a full-time basis as a candidate for a Master by Research or Ph.D. at the University of South Australia.
  • An awardee shall be enrolled as an internal candidate at the University of South Australia.

The last date to apply for RTPi scholarship is August 31, 2020.

 

2. University President’s Scholarships (UPS)

University President’s Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit.

A UPS will cover tuition fees and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). The living allowance must be provided by the University of South Australia center, school, a division where an applicant has applied.

Scholarship

Tuition fees plus a living allowance of at least $28,092 per annum (2020 stipend rate).

Eligibility Criteria
  • Generally, scholarship recipients must have first-class Honours or equivalent.
  • An awardee must be enrolled on a full-time basis as a candidate for a Master by Research or Ph.D. at the University of South Australia.
  • An awardee shall be enrolled as an internal candidate at the University of South Australia.

The last date to apply for UPS scholarship is August 31, 2020.

 

3. International Research Tuition Scholarships (IRTS)

International Research Tuition Scholarships (IRTS) are awarded to international candidates on the basis of academic merit and demonstrated research capability, and who will be supported during their degree by a full living stipend supported by external funding. Additionally, students who can self fund their living allowance and who can provide evidence of this can also be considered for an IRTS.

Scholarship

The IRTS will cover the international tuition fee for 3 years (plus a possibility of a 6-month extension) for a Ph.D. student and the international tuition fee for 2 years for a research master’s student.

Eligibility Criteria

In addition to meeting UniSA’s eligibility criteria, applicants must be:

  • Commencing international research degree students.
  • High quality with demonstrated research capability, as assessed by UniSA
  • Be supported by a strong supervisory panel(with an end-user adviser on the supervisory panel, where appropriate), and be enrolled in a research-rich environment.
  • In receipt of (or been awarded) a fully externally funded stipend scholarship, or in receipt of a living stipend supported by external funding, OR
  • Able to self fund their living costs for their time in Australia.

The last date to apply for the IRTS scholarship is August 31, 2020.

 

4. William T. Southcott Scholarship 

The William T. Southcott Scholarship will be offered to outstanding students to undertake a Ph.D. in the field of practical engineering at the University of South Australia.

Scholarship

The annual scholarship of $35‚000 per annum tax-free will be awarded to a student for a maximum of 3 years. It is expected that recipients will complete their Ph.D. program in three years; however, the scholarship may be extended beyond the tenure of three years, up to a maximum of 3.5 years.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia, or international students. Applicants must meet the entry criteria for the award of a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of South Australia. In addition, applicants require:

  • an outstanding academic record
  • good communication skills and leadership potential. Applicants will be assessed on the basis of a short essay outlining their vision for the proposed research and its potential benefits to industry
  • an interview by the Selection Panel.

The last date to apply for the William T. Southcott Scholarships is August 31, 2020.

 

5. Plasma Touches Life Scholarship

The University of South Australia is seeking a motivated student to undertake an exciting Australian Research Council funded Ph.D. project entitled “Plasma touches life: advancing plasma technologies for the life sciences”.

Scholarship

$28,092 (2020 rate) for 3.5 years

Eligibility Criteria
  • Commencing candidates.
  • Domestic and international students.
  • Applicants must meet the entry criteria for the award of a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of South Australia.
