IIT Delhi is inviting applications from suitable candidates fulfilling the eligibility for Project Appointment under the following project. The appointment shall be on contractual basis with consolidated pay, renewable yearly or upto the duration of the project, whichever is earlier. The project “Mobility Assistant For Visually Impaired” (MAVI) at IIT Delhi is looking for early-stage researchers who would like to contribute to an AI project with real-world impact.
The project requires skills in Computer Vision and Embedded Systems. In MAVI, we address different challenges related to the mobility of the visually impaired community:
- Safety: Safety on road from stray animals, obstructions in pathways
- Social Inclusion: Face recognition for friends
- Navigation: Signboard Reading and Text Spotting in the wild

Research experience in machine learning and computer vision. The candidate should have good knowledge of modern deep learning techniques with hands-on experience in training deep neural networks, which must be demonstrated through prior projects and/or publications in the related topic. You would be responsible for:
1. Managing the team and integrating all modules.
2. Working with the users for user trials
3. Training new students for their required work
*The requirement of NET/GATE examination for the selection to the post of JRF/SRF may be relaxed for the candidates who have graduated from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) with a CGPA of more than 8.000 (80% aggregate marks)
2. Jr. Project Assistant
1st class B.Tech / M.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Computer Science.
Familiarity with :
- Software Development, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Computer Vision.
- at least one Deep Learning framework and have experience training neural networks from scratch.
- Should be able to program comfortably in Python as well as do basic web development/app development.
