2. Project title: Prediction of coastal zone vulnerability due to sea level rise under the changing climate

Job Title: Research Associate

About the project

Indian coasts will be more vulnerable under the changing climatic scenarios in the future. The rise in the sea level will aggravate the flooding and damage to the coastal community. It is therefore necessary to carry out a impact study of sea level rise to better assess future hazards to help decision makers regulate land use in coastal areas and develop mitigation strategies.

Thus, the investigation needs to be carried out for east and west coast of India to evaluate the future vulnerability under changing climate.
To this effect, a nonlinear process modelling endeavour using ADCIRC model is proposed to study the combined sea level rise and tidal impact along Indian coast. In addition, coastal zone vulnerability maps will be prepared for future scenarios to help decision makers regulate land use in coastal areas and develop mitigation strategies.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Ph.D/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal .
