Indian Council of Agricultural Research Entrance Exams for PhD, PG & UG Courses [July 1]: Apply by April 30: Expired

Entrance examination 2019National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited applications for the 2019 All India Entrance Examinations for admission to UG, PG & ICAR-AICE-JRF/SRF (PGS) in AUs, and award of scholarships and fellowships.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the test to the NTA from 2019 onwards.

About ICAR:

ICAR is an apex body for coordinating, guiding, and managing research and education in agriculture in the entire country under the aegis of DARE, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. Of India.

Undergraduate (UG) Programme

In 2019, All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA)-UG shall be conducted for admission to Bachelor Degree programmes in Agriculture and allied sciences (other than veterinary sciences), at Agricultural Universities on 15% of the University seats (100% seats in RLB CAU Jhansi, NDRI Karnal and Dr. RP CAU Pusa, Bihar). Further, not more than 40% of candidates from any one state shall be admitted to any agricultural university/ subject.

Eligibility:

Candidate must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination within scope and standard found to be equivalent to the Senior Secondary Examination of a recognized Indian Board/university (Annexure-VII) after a period of 12 years of study. The medium of instruction in admitting University will be English.

Postgraduate Degree (PG) Programmes 

Students for 25% of seats in accredited Master degree programmes in accredited colleges of accredited AUs’ are admitted through ICAR-AIEEA (PG).
ICAR-AIEEA (PG)-2019 examination for the academic session 2019-20 will be conducted at 87 cities all over the country enabling participation of a large number of candidates seeking admission in Master degree programmes in AUs in different disciplines of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Veterinary, Animal Sciences, Agri. Engineering, Community Science (erstwhile Home Science), Fisheries, Dairy Science and other allied sciences.
ICAR (PG) Scholarship, shall be awarded to 600 candidates based on merit in this examination as per their overall merit-rank and seat availability in different disciplines. The remaining admitted students will be awarded NTS (PGS).

Eligibility:

The candidate must have passed Bachelor degree examination securing Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of at least 6.60/10.00 in ten-point scale, 3.25/5.00 in five-point scale, 2.60/4.00 in four-point scale for General, OBC and UPS categories whereas for SC/ST/Physically Challenged (PC) candidates, the said requirement is an OGPA of at least 5.60/10.00, 2.75/5.00, 2.20/4.00, respectively.
In other cases, where grade-points are not awarded and only marks are awarded, the candidate must have secured at least 60% marks for General, OBC and UPS categories, whereas for SC/ST/PC categories the requirement is 50% marks.

Ph.D. Programme

For the academic session, 2019-20 admissions to 25% seats (100% in CAUs and ICAR-DU, viz ICAR-IVRI) accredited doctoral degree programmes will be granted at accredited colleges in accredited Agricultural Universities under the ICARAU system.
The examination will be conducted in 16 Major Subject Groups comprising 60 sub-subjects /disciplines at 87 cities. Based on the rank of candidates in the All India Merit List based on this examination and availability of seat in a particular subject/discipline opted in the desired university, ICAR shall award JRF/SRF(PGS) to 300 candidates.
Indian Nationals of at least 20 years of age as on 01.07.2019 (i.e. the date of examination) are eligible to apply for the examination.
