Institute of Social Studies Trust is a gender research and advocacy institute located in India Habitat Center, New Delhi. The organization was founded by the renowned feminist scholar and gender advocate Mrs. Devaki Jain in 1980. For more information, please visit www.isstindia.org.

The ‘Gender and Economic Policy Discussion Forum’ is a series of conferences being held between the months of May 2018 to November 2018. The intention of these forums is to bring together the best people from government, research and policy, to highlight key issues and add to the on-going debates.

Discussion notes and Policy briefs are prepared for wider circulation after each forum. (Notes on the earlier forums can be found here).

Gender and Economic Policy Discussion Forum

The Twenty-fifth Discussion Forum is on “Fire in the Forest: Looking at Gender in Forest Economies“. This forum intends to open a discussion around contemporary legislative forest policies, its gendered impact on forest dwelling populations and women and what lies for the future amidst neo-liberal governance and its damage to forest communities.

Date and Time

The forum has been scheduled for 17th May 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m, followed by lunch.

Venue

The forum will be held at Magnolia Hall, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi- 110003.
