The fib was formed in 1998 by the merger of the Euro-International Committee for Concrete (the CEB) and the International Federation for Pre-stressing (the FIP).  These predecessor organizations existed independently since 1953 and 1952, respectively.

About the symposium:

The 13th edition of the fib International PhD Symposium in Civil Engineering. Since its conception in 1996, this PhD Symposium has evolved into a highly respected scientific meeting, connecting young researchers and high-profile scientists alike.
This event provides then an excellent opportunity for PhD students to share scientific thoughts and findings with the international research community from all over the world in the following fields: innovation in materials and structures, construction technology, structural analysis and design, durability and life assessment, sustainability and life cycle assessment and monitoring and structural assessment.

Eligibility: 

PhD students in the field of Civil Engineering, who have not defended their thesis yet.
Supervisors of the students and other experts are also welcome to join the symposium as reviewers, as audience and to participate in discussions.

Until May 30, 2020: PhD students 200 € (Rs. 16155), Others 300 € (Rs. 24233).
After May 30, 2020: PhD students 250 € (Rs. 20194), Others 350 € (Rs. 28272).

  • October 30, 2019 – Deadline for submission of abstract.
  • December 15, 2019 – Notification of abstract acceptance.
  • February 28, 2020 – Submission of camera-ready full papers.
