The Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering (COE), Pune is organizing an Online FDP on Earthquake Response & Vibration Control of Lifeline Structures from July 5 to 9, 2021.
The College of Engineering, Pune-5 (COEP) started in 1854 has a rich history in the pursuit of excellence. The hallmark of COEP education is its strong and widespread alumni network, support of the system, and comraderies that the institute shares with several foreign universities. The institute is consistently ranked among the top 50 technical colleges in India and its alumni have contributed a lion’s share in its development of national infrastructure.
The five-day FDP is intended to edify the theoretical and practical aspects of the recent technological advancements in earthquake engineering, as applied to lifeline structures. The structures considered bridges, water tanks, hospital buildings, and tunnels. The seismic behaviour of utility services like piping systems and railway lines is also included. Analysis and design of lifeline structures, to withstand postulated design earthquakes is the specific objective of the FDP.
