Samsung Engineering jointly with the UN environment would like to launch “The 12th Eco-generation Environmental Essay Competition” inviting youth all over the world to raise awareness on the theme of the upcoming World Environment Day – Beat Air Pollution.

As many of you know, World Environment Day is the United Nations flagship day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

About the UN Environment

The UN Environment coordinates United Nations environmental activities, assisting developing countries in implementing environmentally sound policies and practices. It was founded as a result of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in June 1972 and has its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

UN Environment also has six regional offices and various country offices. In order to ensure full participation of global communities, UN Environment works in an inclusive fashion that brings on board different societal cohorts. UN Environment has a vibrant program for young people known as Tunza.

UN Environment is the designated authority of the United Nations system in environmental issues at the global and regional levels. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.

Inspiring and Creative Stories on why we should reduce air-pollution with regards to its cause, effects, and consequences.

Eligibility

Members aged between 14-24.

Guidelines
  • No Entry Fee is required.
  • All entry must be original work, in English.
  • Plagiarism and off-topic will lead to disqualification.
  • Entries must be in length of 800-1000 words in length.
  • All entries are final. No revisions are accepted.
