IIT Delhi to hold Course on Mechanics of Composite Materials on 19-23 March 2020. Short-term (30 hours) course covers several topics related to the mechanics of composites at macro and micro scales. On successful completion of the course, the participants will be able to

  • Understand the significance of light weight in design of structures
  • Appreciate the mechanical behaviour and failure of composites
  • Understand the structural mechanics of laminates
  • Understand the micromechanics of composites and its relation to macroscopic behaviour
  • Learn experimental characterization of composites

  • Transformation of tensors, index notation
  • Orthotropy & Isotropy (lamina)
  • Fibre Reinforced Lamina
  • Laminated Beams and Plates
  • Laminated Vibration & Buckling
  • Micro-mechanics
  • Representative Volume Element
  • Damage Mechanics of Composites
  • Characterization
Target Audience

The course is designed for faculty members and research scholars (PhD students) at TEQIP-III institutes. Participants from industry are also welcome to register by paying fee.

  • January 15, 2020: Receipt of a registration form with proof of necessary payments as a single PDF file
  • January 20, 2020: Intimation to confirmed participants. Process reimbursement to declined participants
