The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is a public technical and research university located in Powai, Mumbai, India. IIT Bombay was founded in 1958. In 1961, the Parliament decreed IITs as Institutes of National Importance.

About the Course

The Short Term Course on Laboratory and Ergonomic Safety for Engineers is organised by the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Bombay from June 15-19, 2020. The short term course is intended to create awareness of the potential hazards and risks involved among faculty members of engineering colleges who are involved in laboratory activities.

This course further aims to train faculty members of engineering colleges to assume healthy and safe work postures and environment, an awareness and knowledge about ergonomic safety to avoid various musculoskeletal disorders. Thus, this course will help faculty members to familiarize students with the safe work practices and importance of safe behaviors.

Course Contents

Chemical Safety, Bio Safety, Fire Safety, Laser Safety, Radiation Safety, Gas Cylinder Safety, Electrical Safety, Machine safety, Cryogenic safety and Ergonomic Safety.

Eligibility

Faculty members of degree level engineering colleges recognized by AICTE, are eligible to attend the course.
