IIT Guwahati is conducting a 5-day short term Course on Computer-Aided Applied Numerical Analysis & Optimization Techniques from January 17 to 21, 2020. The course would provide knowledge in numerical and optimization techniques.

The proposed course is not specific to any single discipline and can attract participants from various branches of science, engineering, and management. Numerical problems such as the solution of simultaneous linear equations, solution of non-linear equations, linear and non-linear regression, polynomial fitting, splines, ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations would be taught as part of the course.

Objectives
  • The primary objective of this course is to help the participants address such common real-life situations by providing formal optimization knowledge so as to help them to maximize the impact of their work.
  • The hands-on session will give them an exposure to state-of-the-art tools in optimization and enable them to quickly adopt the learnings of the course and employ it in their regular academic, research and administrative activities.
  • It is aimed that the course will also enable the faculty participants to offer Bachelors and Masters Projects in Computational Intelligence Techniques for the students in their institute or at least explore to formally incorporate optimization in their regular projects.

  • Numerical Differentiation and Integration
  • Hands-On session for topics covered in the forenoon session
  • Sanitized Teaching Learning Based Optimization
  • Genetic Algorithm
  • Particle Swarm Optimization and Differential Evolution
  • Hands-On session for topics covered in the forenoon session
  • Benchmarking of Algorithms
  • Introduction to Multi-Objective Optimization
  • Non-Dominated Sorting and Crowding Distance

  • Participants from TEQIP Institutes: NIL
  • Other Participants from Academic Institutes (Non TEQIP): Rs. 2500/-
  • Other Participants (Industry and R&D Organisations): Rs. 5000/-

The registration fee includes a registration kit, light refreshments, and a working lunch.
